Blueberry Basil Lemonade (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Blueberry Basil Lemonade Base

01 - 500 ml water
02 - 200 g granulated sugar
03 - 150 g fresh blueberries
04 - 18 large fresh basil leaves
05 - 240 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
06 - 500 ml chilled sparkling water or still water

# Instructions:

01 - Combine water, granulated sugar, and fresh blueberries in a medium saucepan over medium to medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then cook for 5 minutes, or until the sugar is fully dissolved and the berries burst. Gently mash the blueberries to release their juices.
02 - Remove the pan from heat. Add basil leaves, stir, cover with a lid, and allow to steep for 20 minutes to infuse flavors.
03 - Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or jug, pressing the solids to extract as much flavor and color as possible. Discard any remaining solids.
04 - Pour the blueberry-basil syrup, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and chilled sparkling water into a large pitcher. Stir thoroughly until well combined.
05 - Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices, whole blueberries, or basil leaves as desired.

# Notes:

01 - Store lemonade covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If preparing ahead, add sparkling water just before serving to maintain effervescence.
