Add 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream to a tall glass or float mug.

Add a few drops of vanilla extract over the ice cream for added depth of flavor.

Slowly pour in about half of the root beer.

Add the second scoop of ice cream.

Top with the remaining root beer.

If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream on top and garnish with a maraschino cherry and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
