Classic Creamy White Gravy (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1/3 cup butter
02 - 1/3 cup all purpose flour
03 - 2 cups milk

→ Seasonings

04 - 1 tsp kosher salt
05 - 1 tsp black pepper
06 - 1/4 tsp dried thyme (optional)
07 - 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Melt butter over medium heat. Add flour, salt, pepper, thyme, and cayenne. Whisk until combined.
02 - Cook the flour and butter mixture for 1-2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.
03 - Gradually pour in milk, about 1/2 cup at a time, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
04 - Bring to a vigorous simmer, whisking frequently. Cook for 3-5 minutes until smooth and creamy. Add milk or water if too thick.

# Notes:

01 - Perfect companion for chicken fried steak, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits
02 - Can be made thinner by adding extra milk or water
