In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, orange juice or pineapple juice, toasted sesame oil, and minced garlic until well blended.

Add chicken thighs to the bowl and toss to thoroughly coat in marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours.

Set air fryer to 400°F (204°C) and allow it to preheat while the chicken marinates.

Arrange marinated chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 14–16 minutes, turning halfway through, until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is caramelized.

Transfer cooked chicken thighs to a serving plate. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion, if desired. Serve immediately.
