Indian Fry Bread Tacos (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Fry Bread

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 Tbsp. baking powder
03 - 1 tsp. salt
04 - 1 cup hot water
05 - Vegetable oil for frying

→ Toppings

06 - Chili beans
07 - Taco meat
08 - Shredded lettuce
09 - Diced tomato
10 - Sliced avocado
11 - Sliced black olives

# Instructions:

01 - Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Pour in the hot water and mix with your hands until it forms a slightly sticky dough. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
02 - While the dough rests, pour 1-2 inches of vegetable oil into a medium skillet. Heat over medium-high until it reaches 350°F (if you don't have a thermometer, the oil is ready when a small piece of dough sizzles and floats immediately).
03 - Pinch off golf ball-sized pieces of dough and roll each into a smooth ball with your hands.
04 - On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle about 6-7 inches in diameter. Don't worry if they're not perfectly round - the rustic look is part of their charm!
05 - Working in batches, carefully place the rolled dough into the hot oil. The bread will puff up immediately. Fry until golden on one side (about 20 seconds), then flip and fry the other side for 10-20 seconds more. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
06 - Place fried bread on a baking sheet in a warm oven (200°F) while you finish frying the remaining pieces.
07 - To serve, spread warm chili beans and taco meat over each piece of fry bread, then pile on your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomato, avocado, and olives. Enjoy immediately while everything is warm and crispy!

# Notes:

01 - The dough should be a little sticky - resist the urge to add more flour unless it's impossible to handle.
02 - Make sure your oil is hot enough before frying - this ensures the bread puffs up properly.
03 - You can also serve fry bread with honey or powdered sugar for a sweet treat.
