Simple Korean Comfort Food (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 ½ cups cooked short grain rice (or substitute jasmine rice)
02 - 1 egg
03 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
04 - ½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
05 - 1 tablespoon regular soy sauce (add to taste)
06 - 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
07 - 1 tablespoon finely sliced green onion
08 - ½ teaspoon vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)

→ Optional Additions

09 - Kimchi
10 - Canned tuna
11 - Roasted seaweed flakes
12 - Avocado
13 - Sauteed vegetables (carrots, spinach, zucchini)
14 - Additional protein of choice

# Instructions:

01 - Mix hot cooked rice with butter until well combined. Transfer rice to a large serving bowl. (If using refrigerated leftover rice, microwave it for 2-3 minutes until hot.)
02 - Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat, add cooking oil and fry your egg sunny side up or to your preference. For sunny side up, fry until the whites are nearly set with runny yolks. To help the yolks cook faster, spoon some of the hot oil on top of the yolks.
03 - Place the cooked egg over the buttered rice.
04 - Garnish with sesame seeds, sesame oil, chopped green onions and soy sauce to taste. Mix everything together to enjoy! Feel free to add any optional ingredients as desired.

# Notes:

01 - For crispy egg edges, add more oil when frying. For fully cooked yolks, reduce heat to medium-low and cover with a lid.
02 - You can also make this with scrambled eggs - beat the eggs before cooking over low heat while stirring.
03 - This dish is customizable - add any toppings or mix-ins you enjoy to make it your own.
