                Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, crumbling as it cooks, until cooked through. Strain to remove excess grease and set aside.

                Add the pancake mix, water, cheese, and syrup to a large mixing bowl. Stir together until evenly combined. Fold in the sausage.

                Spoon the batter evenly out into nonstick mini muffin tin wells.

                Bake at 400° for 12-15 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown.

                Serve warm with syrup for dipping, if desired.
