                Microwave the frozen pearl onions for half the time given on the package (approximately 2 minutes). Alternatively, you can thaw the frozen onions in a bowl of cold water for an hour.

                While the onions cook, add the egg to a medium bowl and beat it well. In another bowl, combine the flour, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder and stir to mix thoroughly.

                Drain the partially cooked onions in a colander and pat them dry with a paper towel. This helps the coating adhere better.

                Working with 6-8 onions at a time, first dip them into the flour mixture and stir to coat. Use a fork to lift them out of the flour, shaking off any excess. Then place them in the egg mixture and stir to coat. Use a different fork to take them out of the egg, letting any excess drip off.                 Place all the coated onions on a tray and refrigerate for 10 minutes. This crucial step helps the coating stick better during cooking.

                Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.

                Take the coated onions out of the fridge and arrange them in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don't touch. Spray them lightly with oil. Air fry at 380°F for 3 minutes.
