Classic Homemade Chocolate Brownies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 cup butter
02 - 4 eggs
03 - 2 cups sugar
04 - 1 1/2 cups flour
05 - 1 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
07 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

→ Optional Additions

08 - 1 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans)
09 - 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
10 - Powdered sugar, for sprinkling

# Instructions:

01 - Melt butter in a mixing bowl in the microwave.
02 - Stir in eggs and sugar.
03 - Add flour, salt, cocoa, and vanilla. Stir just until combined.
04 - Add nuts and/or chocolate chips, if desired. Give it a quick stir.
05 - Spread in a greased 9 X 13 pan.
06 - Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Do not overbake or brownies will be dry.
07 - Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.

# Notes:

01 - For chewy, fudgy brownies, be sure not to over-stir. At each step, stir just until the ingredients are combined and no longer. Over-stirring creates a cake-like texture
02 - I use salted butter, but unsalted will work too. You can add 1/4 tsp of salt if using unsalted butter
03 - To Double: Use a jelly roll pan and bake at 350°F for 35 minutes
04 - To Half: Use a 8 X 8 or 9 X 9 pan and bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes
