                Place raspberries in a bowl and mash thoroughly until juicy and well crushed.

                Strain fresh lemon juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp.

                In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and one cup of water. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved. Set aside to cool completely.

                In a large pitcher, combine mashed raspberries, strained lemon juice, and cooled sugar syrup. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

                Just before serving, gently pour in chilled sparkling water and stir softly to preserve carbonation.

                Pour into glasses over ice and garnish with mint leaves or whole raspberries if desired.
